The Journey Of The Tortoise

Size: 12 X 10 inches
Medium: Natural colors, original gold on handmade paper

This exquisite Madhubani painting presents a cosmological narrative centered on a solitary tortoise surrounded by golden fish in stylized motion. The composition is framed by an intricate border of white fish swimming through rhythmic waves, creating a mesmerizing pattern that draws the eye inward. The contrast between the deep indigo background and luminous gold creatures evokes ancient Hindu mythology, particularly the Kurma avatar, rendered with the characteristic fine linework and symbolic precision of traditional Mithila art.
