Visual artist Kunal Kalra spent his formative years in the semi-urban environment of Gurgaon, Haryana. He established a highly unique academic background by completing a graduation degree in computer science alongside his extensive artistic education. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Hyderabad. Seeking to diversify his creative talents, he also finished short training courses in illustration, painting, and 3D animation.
His creative practice goes well beyond traditional gallery canvases, often shifting toward project-based works that deeply investigate the meaning and representation of human existence. These interactive creations heavily involve direct public participation and incorporate modern multimedia tools, especially lights. Driven by an independent, self-motivated sense of spirituality, his art aims to exist completely free from social, historical, or political constraints.
