Being Modern

Size: 10 X 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic and pen on canvas

This charming mixed media work juxtaposes gestural pen-and-ink mark-making with delicate painted bird forms, creating a nest scene of remarkable tenderness. Three fluffy birds with vibrant blue breasts nestle within an expressively rendered architectural nest structure, their bodies rendered with soft modeling against the candy-pink ground. The artist’s loose, scratchy linework and faint pink inscriptions across the canvas suggest both immediacy and contemplation, balancing illustration and fine art sensibilities.
