Blue Eyes

Size: 41 X 30 inches
Medium: Watercolor on paper

This atmospheric watercolor captures the intimate world of owls nested within the weathered cavities of an ancient tree. The artist employs luminous washes of purple, ochre, and sepia to render the bark’s deeply textured surface, while the penetrating blue eyes of the lower owl create a striking focal point against warm russet plumage. Masterful control of wet-on-wet technique produces organic bleeding between colors, evoking the natural decay and beauty of woodland sanctuaries.
