Curators’ Note
Art through Print and Paint
Art is not just about the final image, it is about the journey of creation, the choices of medium, and the essence of the surface it inhabits. “Art through Print and Paint” is an exploration of how artists engage with materials and how textures, layers, and processes shape meaning. This exhibition brings together works on prints, paper, and canvas, each medium conveying its own voice, rhythm, and story.
Prints, with their rich traditions and meticulous techniques, allow for an interplay between precision and spontaneity. The press leaves its mark, embedding history and intent into the surface. Serigraphs, created by layering colors through stencils on a screen, showcase vibrant textures and striking clarity.Every print becomes a conversation between control and unpredictability, creating depth beyond what meets the eye.
Paper, fragile yet resilient absorbs the pigment differently, allowing lightness and delicacy to coexist with intensity and boldness. Whether in sketches, watercolors, or mixed-media compositions, the paper holds immediacy. It captures fleeting moments, raw thoughts, and the artist’s impulse in its purest form.
Canvas, on the other hand, becomes a ground for immersion. With layers of oil, acrylic, or mixed media, it invites expansion, offering artists a vast field to build upon, erase, and reimagine. The strokes, the textures, the blending of colors - all these elements transform the surface into a breathing entity, a world within itself.
Together, these mediums create an interesting combination, highlighting how the surface is never just a background but an active participant in the making of art. Each artwork in this exhibition carries the essence of its material, speaking through texture, depth, and technique.
As curators, we invite you to not just see but to feel the art. Sense the texture of a print, the softness of a watercolor, and the depth held within a canvas.
Let the materials guide you, let the surface tell its story.
