Siddharth Choudhary is an innovative Indian contemporary artist who crafts drawings, paintings, and sculptures by blending traditional craftsmanship with digital software. He utilizes modern technologies like computer illustration, digital sculpting, 3D printing, and digital imaging alongside classical painting methods. For example, his collection titled “Along the Way” features multi-layered canvas paintings created with contemporary synthetic pigments, which originally began as quick line sketches on an iPad.
Siddharth’s creative expression is heavily informed by his nomadic lifestyle, having spent the last ten years residing in numerous countries across multiple continents. He channels these personal journeys to explore the cultural, social, and political impacts of navigating international borders. His diverse artistic inspiration spans from western masters like Philip Guston and Jean Dubuffet to Indian pop culture, hand-painted cinema posters, decorative calendars, and traditional Madhubani folk art.
Born and raised in India, Siddharth earned a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Delhi before completing his master’s degree in visual arts at Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Visual Arts in 2015. He has showcased his artwork globally, including in India, China, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and the United States. His career includes prestigious residencies and grants, such as the Presidential Scholarship at Anderson Ranch Arts Centre and a runner-up finish for the 2014 Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize. He currently works and resides near Boston, Massachusetts.
