Sanket Viramgami is a contemporary Indian artist born in 1988, celebrated for his unique romantic eclecticism. He completed both his Bachelor and Master of Visual Arts in Painting at M.S. University, Baroda, graduating in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
His intricate, often large-scale compositions weave together diverse cultural traditions. He draws substantial inspiration from Persian miniatures alongside traditional Indian craft forms like Gond and Kantha visual languages. His art frequently showcases surreal, camouflaged environments filled with architectural structures reminiscent of origami. By blending imagery from various eras, he builds fascinating narratives that blur the boundaries of time. Through these fragmented spaces, he examines how shifting sociopolitical environments impact human relationships, memory, and personal identity.
Sanket's captivating work has been showcased widely across India and internationally. He has participated in major events like the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Art Dubai, and Art SG in Singapore, alongside solo and group shows at prominent venues such as Palette Art Gallery, Latitude 28, and Jehangir Art Gallery. His contributions have earned him highly respected honors, including the Jeram Patel Award, the Sanskriti Kala Puraskar National Award, and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award.
