Sanjay Tikkal is a prominent contemporary Indian painter based in Pune, Maharashtra, where he was born in 1981. He completed his art education with distinction at Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune, ranking sixth in the state, before earning his Master of Fine Arts from Marathwada University.
Tikkal’s unique, expressive painting style is deeply rooted in his love for nature, traveling, and traditional Indian art. Working primarily with acrylics, he uses textured brushstrokes, expressive forms, and vibrant color schemes to explore human emotions. His work captures the shifting feelings, hopes, and experiences of daily life, transforming them into inspiring, energetic visual narratives.
His dedication has earned him several highly respected honors, including a Gold Medal and the Best Entry Award from the Bombay Art Society in 2010. He has also received recognition from the Art Society of India, the Chitari Academy, and the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation. Tikkal has showcased his artwork in solo exhibitions at prestigious venues like Mumbai's Jehangir Art Gallery and the India Habitat Centre in Delhi, alongside major group events such as the Pune Biennale and the Goa Art Festival.
