Born in 1986, Maripelly Praveen Goud is a contemporary Indian artist recognized for combining classic printmaking techniques with modern themes. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at P.S. Telugu University in Hyderabad in 2007, graduating with honors. He later relocated to Gujarat to earn his Master of Visual Arts in Graphics and Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the M.S. University of Baroda in 2009. Today, he continues to live and work in Baroda, where he splits his time between making art and practicing yoga.
Goud maintains a distinctive creative style by exploring cutting-edge, high-tech subject matter through historical printmaking crafts. This intriguing approach allows him to comment on modern technology using some of the oldest visual media available to printmakers.
His innovative prints have brought him widespread recognition and several notable accolades early in his career. He won the National Academy Award at the 51st National Art Exhibition in 2009, followed by the H.K. Kejriwal Young Artist Award in 2010 and the Inlaks Fine Art Award in 2012. Additionally, his research and education were supported by prestigious grants, including the KrishnaKriti Foundation Scholarship and the Ministry of Culture's HRD Scholarship. Over the years, his pieces have been showcased at prominent venues like Project 88 in Mumbai, Ragini Art Gallery, and the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi, alongside creative residencies at KHOJ.
