Kaushal Prasad Tekam is a talented Gond artist who grew up in Patangarh village, located in the Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. As the youngest child and only son among five siblings, his passion for art emerged during early childhood. He frequently tested his mother's patience by covering their home's walls with creative drawings made from kitchen soot.
Driven by a deep commitment to his craft, he found great inspiration in the legendary master artist Jangarh Singh Shyam, mirroring the dedication of many young creators in his locality. Over time, Tekam honed his skills further by participating in an influential workshop organized by Gond painter Anand Singh Shyam. This pivotal experience helped him master the techniques of rendering artwork on both paper surfaces and walls.
His artistic creations primarily explore the harmonious relationships between the natural world, human beings, and wildlife. To express these themes, he developed a distinctive signature style that uses diverse shades and intensities of black ink to build intricate textures, beautifully emphasizing select portions of his compositions. Today, his dedication has successfully brought his traditional heritage to a wider audience, with his paintings being regularly exhibited in both state and national forums.
