Sunil Das (1939–2015) was a prominent Indian post-modernist and expressionist painter, renowned for his powerful depictions of horses, bulls, and human relationships. He studied at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
His iconic horse drawings captured movement, strength, and untamed energy, while his experiences in Spain inspired the celebrated Bull Series, exploring power and aggression. He also explored themes of women, sexuality, loneliness, and human relationships through an intense visual language.
A founding member of the Society of Contemporary Artists, Sunil Das continually experimented with styles and mediums, leaving a distinctive and lasting mark on modern Indian art.
