Hailing from Bengal, Partho Dutta is a highly accomplished contemporary Indian artist celebrated for his energetic and joyful portrayals of horses and bulls. His compelling artwork successfully captures the raw power, vitality, and fluid movement of these magnificent creatures, turning a classic motif into a fresh, modern theme. He built his formal academic foundation within West Bengal, graduating from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata.
Throughout his career, Dutta has developed a versatile command over various forms of visual communication. He thoroughly mastered traditional printmaking methods, including wood and metal engraving, copper and zinc etching, collagraphy, serigraphy, and lithography. Embracing modern technology, he also gained professional expertise in digital illustration, 2D animation, and 3D modeling.
While his dynamic animal series remains widely sought after, he is equally recognized for his specialized, atmospheric paintings of Banaras. Using acrylics, charcoals, and watercolors, he creates bold compositions defined by intense colors and vibrant arrangements that showcase his deep passion. A lifelong devotee to the arts who has dedicated his entire life to his craft, Dutta has showcased his pieces in over thirty exhibitions. His creative excellence has earned him eleven honors, most notably the prestigious National Award presented by the Government of India.
