About Aditi Chakraborty

Aditi Chakraborty, born in 1977 in Guwahati, Assam, is a talented artist known for her abstract and semi-abstract paintings. She has a Master’s degree in English Literature from Burdwan University and holds diplomas in Interior Design and Fine Art from Kathmandu, Nepal. Aditi has also completed certificate courses in Art Appreciation and Woodblock Printing in Kolkata, enriching her artistic knowledge and skills. Aditi's creative process is introspective and solitary. She often spends hours contemplating before a blank canvas, and long walks help her gain clarity and purpose in her art. Her current body of work consists of non-figurative abstract pieces, resulting from 14 years of experimentation with various forms and fragments. Aditi’s artwork reflects her deep connection with nature, showcasing her lifelong passion for it.

Throughout her career, Aditi has received numerous awards and recognitions. Notably, she earned a Gold Medal for Excellence in Design from Exterior-Interior Ltd. in 2003 and was honored with the Best Emerging Artist Award from the Arts Acre Foundation, India. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Graphics) with first-class honors from Gauhati University and a short-term course in Textile Design from the Weavers Service Centre in Guwahati.

Aditi has held several solo exhibitions, starting with the State Art Gallery in Guwahati in 1998 and more recently at the Artists Centre in Mumbai in 2015. She has participated in international exhibitions, including the Busan International Art Fair in South Korea and various exhibitions in countries like Italy, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Her works have also been displayed in numerous group exhibitions across India, including in cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.

In addition to exhibitions, Aditi has taken part in various workshops and art festivals, contributing to her growth as an artist. She has also engaged in community art initiatives, emphasizing her commitment to sharing art with others.

Aditi’s artistic journey is characterized by her dedication to exploring abstract forms and her deep appreciation for nature. Her reclusive approach to creating art allows her to connect profoundly with her work, resulting in paintings that invite viewers to experience her unique vision.
